Hudson's 3rd Birthday Party

Summer in Review

Relay for life
We all participated in The Relay for Life in order to 'kick cancer's ass' and remember those who fought this year.  It was hot, but we had a lot of fun.

The Beach
We had a 3 day get away to Lincoln City.  We spent time in the sand, the ocean and in the pool.  It was busy, relaxing and fun

Splash Pads
We spent time at Splash Pads this summer, enjoying the cool water and lots of kid giggles and splashes

Parks and walks
This summer we spent a lot of time exploring Canby.  We found lots of parks to enjoy as well as our local bike store, music store and candy shop.

This summer we took 3 camping trips to Silver Falls, Fishermen's Bend and McIver.  We had friends camp with us or visit during each trip.  Great relaxing outdoor time.

Great Wolf Lodge
We took a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge and played nonstop!  Wave pools, water slides, kiddie pools, arcade fun and birthday presents.  Hard to top that weekend!

Hudson turned 3!

We also spent time doing some projects around our house, visiting with friends and playdates, climbing at Safari Sams and Bullwinkles, watching Toy Story 1 and 2 A LOT, playing cars, and generally relaxing.  We are not completely ready for a new routine or alarm clock, but, summer comes again in 9 months!!

Hudson 3 years

3 Years Old!!

Mom and Dad say that I am a delight and a terror wrapped up in one amazing bundle of boy!

I weigh in at 38 pounds (94th percentile) and I am 37 1/2 inches..just over 3 feet (53rd percentile)
Doctor says I am doing great however my vision screener is questionable and I will be seeing an eye doctor on Friday for a follow up.  Mom is a little nervous, but I'll do great!
I love to climb, jump and run all the time; no breaks
CRASH BANG BOOM's make me happy
I love balloons, seeing helper cars, water, laughing and over all life in general
I am learning how to kick/dribble soccer balls and shoot basketballs
I have been working hard on potty training and am really close; mom just isn't quite brave enough to go without the pull up when we are out and about
Trains and cars and anything that moves, I will play with.  My parents even took me to the Molalla Train park and I got to ride a train!
I no longer qualify for speech, although I do assume everyone has the back story of everything I talk about, often confusing the listener as I will start mid way in the story.
My favorite foods are buttered noodles, apples, plums, peppers, carrots, warm cookies, Popsicle, chocolate raisins and Goldfish
I am gearing up to start preschool and am also excited to get back to 'Tammy days'
I am moving from the parent-child levels into independent classes for both Little Gym and Swim Lessons
I got a big boy bike that I am slowly trying to pedal.  I am also getting comfortable on big boy swings
I LOVE THE MOVIES Toy Story 1 & 2 and Cars 1 & 2 (I always told mom and dad no when they wanted to take me to see Cars 3)
I have a sensitive side and sometimes need to just escape and snuggle with mom, dad or meme.
I get shy when I'm out in public or around people I don't know
I am starting to play with others at parks and play lands
Sharing is hard!!
I love to sing songs (Soft Kitty, Honey Milk, Sweety Pie)
Meme affectionately call me a demanding little boy which is quite accurate; but I try to use my manners and be as cute as possible when I am demanding

17 years ago a stanch and quiet and slightly intimidating man invited me in to his home for the weekend as his youngest sons girlfriend.

I spent that weekend slowly getting to know you through pictures and stories. Matt went down to take a shower and I was sitting upstairs with you in your chair watching a muted tv show and listening to the coo coo clock tick. I knew I couldn't do that for more than a few minutes so I reached over and took a photo album of the shelf. I believe I asked you about a picture of a tree and then a pool made from a tarp in the bed of a truck.

You came to life with stories.  I began looking forward to visiting and hearing more.

Over the years, our relationship grew to include inside jokes and stories and moments others may not understand but I will treasure for the rest of my life!  I could try to explain them here for others, but I wouldn't do them justice...  I learned about you through your love for your family, your country, cooking, gardening, college basketball, politics, camping, hunting, Indiana, Crystal Gayle, folk music and the Opry. You were an amazing cook and I always looked forward to a meal with you.  Whether it was garden fresh zucchini stuffed with sharp cheddar chess and ham,  biscuits and gravy,  pulled pork, chicken, hamburgers or pizza!  Dinners with you were always good for the soul!  I will always treasure our camping trips; the fireside stories,  camp loop walks, games and food.

2 and a half years ago, you welcomed your final grandchild.  Watching you rock Hudson while humming and singing to him so Matt and I could eat a delicious meal you cooked was a welcomed moment in our week.  He loved completing puzzles with you, swinging and rocking and you helped create his love for hot wheels!  Huddy loves Papa R!

April 25th, God welcomed you home.  You will be missed in person but will live on in spirit, stories, memories and pictures!

God saw him getting weaker,
And a cure was not to be
God put His arms around him,
And whispered: "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes, we watched him fade
And slowly slip away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
The golden heart stopped beating,
His loving hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
