Weekend Adventures

After weeks of illnesses, injuries and holiday's, we decided to get out and have some family time this weekend.  It was full of great adventures and laughs!

Hudson was SO Proud of himself once he made it to the top!

Then he wanted more pictures!

Thankful

Hudson is growing up to be a pretty cool kid!  We are so blessed for many great caregivers who help enrich his life and I continue to feel so lucky for the opportunity that presented itself this year to work part time, closer to home and spend more time with this cool fella.

Preschool Picture
At his 4 year check up he weighed in at 44.8 lbs (94%) and is 40.75 inches tall (55%).

Many cute Halloween crafts done with he and Nanny Tammy (AKA Margo) decorate our front entry way

Thanks to preschool Hudson is obsessed with dot painting and the alphabet.
He didn't like the 1 letter a week plan so he asked us print out the entire alphabet.  He will now stand in the hall and sing the ABC's.  Just recently we caught him standing in the hall, turning his head from sideways to straight.  When asked about it, he told us to "come look..it's an N,  (tilts head) it's a Z, (head is straight) it's an N, (tilts head again) it's a Z.

We now have an alphabet wall in our home.

We have been enjoying lots of family time this fall; walks to the park, pumpkin patch, etc...

Just Do It

The New Nike commercial is getting a lot of attention.  I sat back this morning and watched it, thinking about the 'Just Do It's of the past and trying to keep an open mind.

I was very unsettled after finishing the commercial.  For those of you who haven't seen it, I share a few lines.

Don't try to be the fastest runner in your school, or in the world.  Be the fastest runner ever.
Don't settle for Homecoming queen or linebacker, do both.
Lose 120 pounds and become an ironman after beating a brain tumor.
Don't believe you have to be like anybody to be a somebody

In other words...it's not about you doing your best, it only matters if you are the best of the best!

There are amazing chefs cooking dinner for their families every night, never in a restaurant for a paycheck.  They should get recognized!  Whether you take 1st in the Boston Marathon or last; you ran the freakin' Boston Marathon...Good job!  You lost 150 pounds..AMAZING.  You beat cancer; you rock!  You ran an Ironman...Holy Cow!  All three amazing in their own right.  Nope, not enough for Nike unless you did all 3.

I do not like this message at all!

I grew up with parents who taught me that I could do anything I wanted; be anything I wanted and conquer the world however I chose.  However, they also helped me believe that no matter how good I was, there would always be someone better.  BUT, if I had done my very best, then I should feel proud!

Sorry NIKE....You missed it!

Changes on the Horizion

This coming school year holds a lot of change for me.  As of 2:00 pm Friday afternoon, I am now part of the Canby School District.  I will be working for Carus Elementary School as a part time Reading Specialist Teacher.  I am very excited to get back to focusing on reading and to be in our local school district.  I am sad to say goodbye to such great colleagues and families in Sherwood but I am eager to get busy in my new role.

ALSO.....I have been hired by George Fox University as an adjunct professor where I will be supervising student teachers.  The two student teachers I was assigned over the summer happen to be at Carus Elementary as well.  =) I love it when things align!!

I'm a bit overwhelmed but also very excited for these new adventures and opportunities.  Here goes nothing!

**Everyone tells me to be excited for preschool this year

**I weigh 43 lbs and am 3 feet 4.5 inches tall

**I am fully potty trained outside of overnight.  Mom still hasn't been willing to try me in unders all night because I wake up wet each morning.  But, I do great all day long!

**I LOVE Disney Cars and have way more cars than I can count.

**Things I enjoy: Walks, Parks, Climbing, Water Squirters, Cars, Music, Potty humor, Dinosaurs, Minions, Trains, listening to music, dancing, playing grocery store, ice cream shop, playing eep and all varieties of chase, duck duck goose, the matching game, Peppa Pig, Pinkalicious, Daniel Tiger and more!

**I'm really starting to get into imaginative play and create entire scenarios for all involved.

**I am not a big fan of meat, but I LOVE my fruits and vegetables as well as chocolate

**I say really random and funny things, all the time!  Always be on guard and ready to laugh when I'm around.

**When I grow up I want to be a fireman

Summer Fun

We had a great time this summer exploring.  We did 3 camping trips (see pictures and blog about those here), Great Wolf Lodge, a few days at the beach, a couple trips to Oaks Park and Enchanted Forest.  It was great family fun mixed with lazy summer days.
