We had a beautiful day celebrating Dad, Mike Kay, Papa, Mr. Kay, etc... Thank you all who came out and filled the room with stories, laughter and memories. As the evening winds down, we have enjoyed reading all of the cards and the many memory write ups. We felt surrounded by friends and felt very loved.

Remembrance
Michael David Timothy Kay
‘My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.’ Psalm 74:26
Michael (Mike) David Timothy Kay was born on August 9, 1950, in Portland, Oregon and passed away on April 29, 2025 in Sherwood, Oregon after a long fought battle with cancer.
Mike graduated from Jesuit High School in 1968 and attended Marylhurst University. He worked at Tektronix for almost 20 years before becoming a commercial general contractor. After 32 years, Mike retired in 2022 after building, operating and owning the Murdock Apartments in Sherwood, Oregon.
Mike spent years as a volunteer in many local organizations including the Tigard-Tualatin Soccer league, The Boy Scouts of America, and the Tigard United Methodist Church. During his time as a volunteer, he served in many roles including Coach, Scoutmaster, Camp Director, District Eagle Scout Board of Review Chairman, and head of the Board of Trustees for his church.
Known to many as the ‘gentle giant”, Mike is remembered for his soft heart, determined personality, and quick wit. Anyone who knew Mike knew he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. You could find him enjoying Lincoln City, relaxing while camping and hunting, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing cribbage and supporting his family. Mike is survived by his wife Pamela, son Jeremy (Christa), daughter Alyson (Greg Hirsch), and grandchildren, Eric, Daniel and Hudson.
Dad’s hard working hands
God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, “come with me”
With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best!
