Religious Experiences

For Matt's Social Justice Class we went to a Jewish Service last night in Lake Oswego.  It was so interesting. It filled a void in me and reminded me how much I enjoy going to church.  The feeling of God was apparent and the friendliness of everyone was so welcoming.  They were all so willing to share their faith with us and answer questions.  Luckily, we were at a children's service, so everything was done more in laymans terms, so we were able to understand much of the main ideas they were sharing.  There were so similaritys to Christian services but also some very different aspects such as hebrew and moving backwards through the prayer book.  Thank you to http://beithav.org/ for being so open and friendly.

Does anyone have a local/semi local church that they LOVE?  Matt and I would love to find one to call home.  We are interested in the Newberg, Lake Oswego, Tualatin, Wilsonville, Tigard, Sherwood area.  We would like a Christian Based church that is more old school in style, such as hymns verses praise band.  Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,
Alyson

  1. I went with Tony today to the River west church in LO. it was pleasant, non denominational. did have a band with more modern hymns that played in the beginning and end. Focus on scripture, and giving back to others. multi generational. Tonys been trying various churches and had kind of landed here. I plan on going back; seems very welcoming.
didn't realize until to day how much I've missed church! Nick is going to come with us next week.
