Has it really been another year already? It feels like just yesterday I was writing about our anniversary's of the past (click here to read that blog). Now, as I sit on one end of the couch watching the Olympics, with Matt cuddled with hedgehog Spike, on the other, I am reminded that simple = perfection. Over the last 8 years, we really have created a pretty simple/perfect life.
Little did we know that when we asked Beckie Hocker to perform the music at our ceremony, she would choose such a perfect song for the two of us. Here are the first three stanza's in the song It is you (I have loved) from the movie Shrek
There is something that I see In the way you look at me There's a smile, there's a truth in your eyes
But an unexpected way On this unexpected day Could it mean this is where I belong It is you I have loved all along
It's no more mystery It is finally clear to me You're the home my heart searched for so long And it is you I have loved all along

Happy Anniversary Matt, I love you more and more each year and I look forward to many many more together!
For everyone who has been wondering about Dad's ankle surgery and recovery...here is a link to his blog with documentation and pictures of the journey so far. He will update again mid August when his stitches come out and he gets another cast. http://mikeyfix.blogspot.com/
Enjoy (but not while eating, some pictures are a bit gnarly)!
We are just a little over half way finished with summer 2012. We have had a chance to play with Spike, go camping, spend time with family, garden, catch up with old friends, play some tennis and enjoy our bowling league (I have even gotten a chance to get my own ball driled to my hand, cool). Here is a quick glimpse at a few of our adventures thus far.
Here is a video of Spike playing with a basketball. He pushed it around 2 other times before I had the camera ready.
Last weekend, Matt had the chance to be in a high school friends wedding. It was at Bella Collina in Amity and was beautiful. It was neat to meet some new people from his high school.
Catching up with Old Friends
The Boys...aren't they looking sharp?!
This past week, Matt and I got a chance to get away and enjoy a few days at Silver Creek Falls. Matt's Dad came up to. We had lots of time to hang out in camp and also got a good 5 mile hike in around the falls.
I've always been a bit of a rule breaker
Matt's Dad was the reigning champ of ladder ball for this weekend. We will be seaking revenge during the all family campout in August.
As you may know, last Friday (the 13th), my dad had his right ankle fused. The doctor said it was one of the worst ankles he had seen and he has multiple titanium rods, plates and screws in him. He has had his good days and bad days so far with the recovery. We will know more on how the surgery took on Monday afternoon when he goes in for his post surgery appointment. Please continue to send him healing thoughts and prayers.
We have a little over a month left of summer, although all teachers know what it feels like to see August on the calendar. We plan to end the summer with a bang. We will be going to Bend for our anniversary and another camping trip. I hope everyone else has had a great time making the most of the Oregon Summer.
I love music. I find so much meaning and understanding through songs. Here are some lyrics that speak to me around the 4th of July.
It's a high school prom It's a Springsteen song It's a ride in a Chevrolet It's a man on the moon And fireflies in June And kids sellin' lemonade It's cities and farms It's open arms One nation under God It's America (It's America by Rodney Atkins)
I’d thank my lucky stars
to be livin here today
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can’t take that away
And I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free
And I wont forget the men who died
who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
next to you and defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA (God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood)
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all (Some Gave All by Billy Ray Cyrus)
There's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes
The price that it cost to be free (Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly by Aaron Tippin)
An American child
'Cause dreams can grow wild
Born inside an American child (American Child by Phil Vassar)
So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night,
We don't let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.
On second thought
I do like to brag
Cause I'm mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag (Ragged Old Flag by Johnny Cash)
I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July full of all the Family, Friends, Fireworks, Apple Pie and Red, White and Blue!
